July 1992 - the day i stepped into this great institution without an idea of what i will be 3 years later.
First day class in A Block. New atmosphere, new friends.
though i belonged to EEE dept, many would have seen with the MECH guys all the 3 years around. Joseph, Rams, vijay , Bhai, Ganesh all together. And of course Koli Bala...
Who can forget this idiot Bala who made me a victim to HoD Kameswaran ? From first Semester to the last, i was always at the bad books of HoD. We were sitting in the front desk and this fellow yawned by stretching his legs & hands at HoD. Got caught and me since i was sitting next to him, also got caught. "
NEE avan nanban, neiyum appidi thaan erupay, neeiyum veliye po" This made a platform for our stronger friendship with me & koli Bala. My mother still remembers this incident because of which she had to come to college to meet HoD.
Beach at PSG tech, which is non existent now, was a great place to hang out especially for bird watching. Quadrangle, beach and andapuram was integral part of any psgtian life.
Can't forget the bus life too during college days. 11G,13B & 39 were our official carriers of our gang which consisted of few of beauties from neighbouring college PSG Krishnammal.
Roja was the first official movie which we saw - bunking our college may be twice i think with our gang. First time, it was almost empty. Second time we had to go through long queue. That was in our first year - 1992.
Then came our trip to Ooty during semester holidays. Along with our PSG gang, but to our surprise, we had to take shuttle journey's from coimbatore to mettupalayam, then almost 4 hours of standing in queue to get our bus to ooty. Then trip to ooty in standing in most luxurious (of that age) trip, in foot board to ooty.
Enjoyed every single moment with our gang - i donot know who is having all the pics taken on that trip. May be jose / bhai.
Our daily visits to NMB bakery (which cannot be missed in any PSGtian's memoirs) will not complete with a smoke, special bun & chai. Mostly funded by Jose (our financier) Later we had a set up with the supplier who will undervalue the bill every time we visit, (our job of fixing started from there itself). Understood that this supplier later got caught & sacked. Even today you can find one supplier by name Mani - who can recognize us for all the wrong reasons.
When it comes to Lab & Engg drawing class - no one in our batch can forget " Auto shankar" a terror among us in Lab. Particularly in lighting lab - the way he instructed & the next moment we did exactly what he told us not to do. Immediate result - thrown out of Lab & internals - ZERO. Can't forget those hilarious moments in life at PSG.
Another funniest character in college was one Mr.Ganapathy - Chemistry dept. A guy with a great timing sense. His famous dialog was "
KANNA ADIKADI NIYUM CLASSKU VANDAINA THAN NAAN YAARU NU UNAKKU THERIYUM, NE YAARU NU ENAKKU THERIYUM " This was made to great guy "Arivalagan" who was from udumelpet, later he dropped out in first year itself. Ganapathy - a chain smoker who shares a good bonding with all dept students.
Sundaram - Ace Mathematician cum NCC officer. Guy who writes bogus accounts for the sake of getting his daughter's married. It was like a gurukul where this professor would give some work & will sleep in the class itself. Still have memories of N block classes - post lunch where we have to hear his deafening noise (what else engine) When he was ill, we were well taught by one Mr.Selvaraj from same Maths dept, fondly called as
"SADDAM HUSSAIN". Rightly so, as he would fix a guy and then see to that he starts walking away with his humiliation of not knowing how to carry out the problem. But he saw to that at the end we all knew the tricks of maths as per the curriculam.
English - Chandra Madam, was a calm & composed lady - who made even the ones who came from Tamil medium comfortable with the language. On the other hand there was one Mr.Pichaandi (forgot his real name) who will make their lives miserable.
If today am comfortable making presentations with great ease, then the credit should go to chandra madam to great extent. My issue with Mr.Govindaraj (GKG) - who took Batteries & circuits in first year still continues. Made me a bad guy along with santhanalakshmi during 2nd sem for no fault of us. We had this strained relationship even in 3rd year.
First year - we all went through much at ease in academics.
